Sites SINGER HAYLEY WESTENRA PRESENTED WITH UK PLATINUM DISC FOR HER WORLDWIDE SMASH DEBUT 'PURE' - December 19, 2003 16-yr-old singing sensation Hayley Westenra earned another remarkable accolade in her short but already incredible career, as she was presented last week with a UK platinum disc for her worldwide smash debut PURE. The album, which debuted at #1 on the British classical charts, has become the fastest-selling debut in the chart's history. Esteemed singer Jose Carreras presented the young star with her disc, following an extraordinary performance the pair did together at the Royal Albert Hall ( http://shorefire.com/artists/hayley/ukplatinum_hayley.html ). PURE will be released in the US April 6 on Decca. Hayley Westenra has also recorded a new song entitled "Here Beside Me" which will be an end title track for the forthcoming DVD/video of the Disney animated film "Mulan 2," to be released Sept. 14, 2004.
